Ti Kwan Yin, sometimes know as the "Iron Goddess of Mercy", has many legends about it's origin. The most common describes a poor farmer Wei Yin, who, despite his poverty, dutifully cared for the neglected temple Guan Yin (Goddess of Mercy). One afternoon, he fell asleep and dreamed a great treasure lay in a cave behind the temple. When he awoke, he went to the cave and found a single green shoot which he replanted in an iron pot in his home. The bush flourished and eventually cuttings were given to friends and neighbors. The fine tea brought prosperity to the village and over the centuries, has become one of the most sought after oolongs in the world.
