Genmaicha in Japanese means "brown rice tea". Its origin is traced to the Japanese Province of Shizuoka, which is located near Mount Fuji. Japanese peasants added roasted rice as filler to stretch their precious tea supply. It eventually became known as "The People’s Tea". This recipe, born of poverty, has become a favorite of urbanites in Japan and the West.
Our Organic Genmaicha is a blend of organic Japanese Bancha tea and toasted brown rice. This soothing, mellow beverage brews up pale green in color, with a slightly sweet taste and the unmistakable flavor of toasted rice. Low in caffeine, you can enjoy it any time of day or night.
