The word chai, for many parts of the world, simply means tea. However, for many English speakers, chai automatically implies "masala chai", or spiced tea. Traditionally an East Indian drink, chai is prepare by boiling black tea, milk, and whole spices, then adding sugar. Typically, chai teas use varying combinations of cardamom, cinnamon, ginger, star anize, peppercorn and cloves. Today, Chai has become increasingly popular throughout the world. In addition to traditional methods, it is now often served as a chai latte or a rooibos blend.
